Padma Lakshmi and Salman Rushdie Divorce

Popular model, actress and cookbook author Padma Lakshmi met famous novelist and essayist Salman Rushdie at a party and they soon hit it off. Salman Rushdie was married three times before he married Padma and all his previous marriages ended in divorces. Salman was also quite older that Padma Lakshmi, in fact he was just seven years younger than her dad.

Salman Rushdie and Padma Lakshmi were married in New York City on April 17, 2004.

After around eight years of relationship including three years of marriage the couple were divorced in 2007, soon after Salman Rushdie was granted a knighthood. During the divorce process in a statement by her representative, Padma Lakshmi informed that after an 8 year relationship including over 3 years of marriage, she regrets that their mutual efforts failed to make the marriage work.

Currently both of them are doing very well professionally. Padma Lakshmi's popularity is at an all time high as the host of the reality television program Top Chef. Salman is also doing very well as a writer.
