The scar on the upper right arm of Padma Lakshmi

When Padma Lakshmi was around 14 years old she was involved in an accident that left a now famous and much talked about 7-inch permanent scar on her right arm.

The accident occurred when Padma was travelling in a car along with her parents. They were all coming back after visiting a temple in Malibu. In her own words talking about that incident she said, "Flying in a car felt like an exhilarating hallucination, an unbelievable ride that oddly remains one of the most beautiful images in my memory."

The car flew 40 feet and crashed straight into a tree. The tree trunk then fell directly on top of the car. Fortunately the accident did not result in any fatality. Padma suffered injuries to her hip and right arm.

Padma Lakshmi recovered from the accident but was left with a permanent 7-inch scar on her upper right arm.

The great thing about Padma Lakshmi is that she has turned this scar into an asset and she in fact did many modelling photo shoots projecting her scar in a very lovely way...
